Speaker Meeting was born out of an idea of guidance, of central messaging, of engagement and of worship. Speakers being often the subtle but primary focal point of any mass communication or gathering, their silhouette is often hidden in plain sight. They are functional objects, yet symbols of protest, congregation and celebration, standing right and tall, between the messenger and the recipients. This book explores the nuance and character contained in the shapes we recognize as speakers, whether they are in human or inhuman form. Either way, they are common objects that we relate to in uncommon ways. Chris Luttrell ruminates on the shapes and sizes of speakers in a series that span over the course of this first year of drawings on the subject.
