A personal selection of photographs by Ian Dawson (b. 1944), spanning almost sixty years and several continents. 'Keepers 'brings together fleeting moments, found details and scenes shaped by light, form, movement and place.
Dawson has spent a lifetime behind the camera. He began working as a freelance photographer in 1975, becoming an established name in car photography while also shooting food, travel, art and design.
"What makes an image a keeper? Something we pull out from the rest, go back to again and again. The answer is personal to each of us. The picture that triggers happy memories perhaps. One that holds your gaze, intrigues or surprises you. A found object, or something lost. For me, looking at pictures is a visceral sensation rather than an intellectual process.
